I can remember my parents talking about the American dream of home ownership forty years ago. Their hearts were set on owning a home with the beautiful white picked fence in the front. Day after day they would talk about, look at pictures and dream that someday home ownership would be a reality in their lives. As I think back, it seemed as though their desire to own a home was so strong that nothing would keep them for doing all they could to make it happen. After working hard and saving every dime they could for five years, they finally had enough money saved for the down payment. They found the cutest white ranch style home with a side load garage everyone envied. You should have seen how happy we were when we finally received the keys to move in. I remember how magical it felt to have my own room and space which mom decorated in pretty pink and whimsical purples. It was just like the ending of a fairy tale. It was one of our families’ greatest accomplishments and it made us all feel happy to know that we owned a place we could call our own.
Home ownership matters and makes a vast difference in the lives of families. It not only causes you to feel good about yourself, but it builds community and adds value and vision to the lives of others. My parents’ accomplishment helped to inspire and teach other families and acquaintances that they too had the opportunity to own their own homes. It literally inspired others with hope that they could likewise achieve the American dream of homeownership if they would take the needed steps to get into position to own. Owning your home gives you a feeling of accomplishment and pride. You feel secure knowing that your hard earned dollars are going into property that you will eventually own and can pass on to your children or other generations. It gives you more options and allows you the opportunity to sell and capitalize on property appreciation and gained equity. Additionally, homeownership also helps fund jobs and keeps the economy moving forward
Did you know that for every two homes sold, one new job is created? And the home market also adds over two trillion dollars to U.S Gross Domestic Product. Think about it, your purchase of a home will not only improve the quality of life you and your family will enjoy, but it will provide you more stability, security, and hope for a brighter future. You will also be doing your part in helping to rebuild the US economy, keeping and providing jobs for workers and enjoy the benefits of living the American dream.
